A one-day garage sale Friday, Aug. 1, will raise funds for the Autism Society of Iowa. The sale is slated for 8 am to 5 pm at the commercial building north of Clover Hall at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson.
Just as life with autism can seem like an unmarked road, items at the garage sale are also unmarked. Nothing will be priced. Shoppers are invited to make a donation for what they take home.
To donate items to the sale, take them to the commercial building after 10 am this Tuesday, July 29. Ann Hicks, who is organizing the sale, will gratefully accept them. For information, call Hicks at 712-652-3348 or 712-830-1613.
The Autism Society will use the proceeds from the sale to help cover costs of mailing packets to parents of newly diagnosed children; and educating parents, teachers, and others who work with children and adults with autism through conferences, stocking the lending library, and numerous other activities and endeavors. All money raised will stay in Iowa.
